Lynne Rogers and her Southport U3A choir brought a great amount of Christmas cheer to Christ Church in what was the last concert of an immensely successful midweek-music season of concerts.
Over thirty of our town's finest carollers offered both classics and newer compositions to a crowd of over one hundred— most of whom joined-in with the carol singers in a heartfelt & uplifting display of community.
I particularly enjoyed the musical potpourris— the «Nutcracker Jingles», a mix of James Lord Pierpont's «Jingle Bells» and four selections of Tchaikovsky «Nutcracker», but I'm quite partial to these types of medleys, as I find them very clever.
Christ Church's Midweek Music Programme has been the highlight of this, my first year in Southport. I'm very appreciative of having the opportunity of having such great musicians so near us; if next years' programme is half as good as this year's was, we will all do well to count ourselves very lucky indeed.
