Pip Clarke & Havilland Willshire at Christ Church

Almost exactly a year to the date, Ms Pip Clarke and Mr Havilland Willshire return to Christ Church in another memorable violin-piano duet to the delight of a crowd of about two hundred music appreciators.

The concert started with a suite of Spanish songs by Manuel de Falla. After about twenty minutes of a passionate piano-violin debate, the music settled with three rather modern romances by Clara Schumann, and ended with a vivacious reconciliation brought upon by Beethoven's «Sonata for violin & piano n.º 7, Op. 30 n.º 3 in G».

One year ago I wrote that Ms Clark's capacity for the violin far exceeds my capacity to convey through words my admiration, and, unfortunately, my English has not much improved since then; therefore, all that I can do now is congratulate the initiative of Christ Church, which manages to produce such extraordinary musicians– and so frequently, too!

(I'd also like, if the reader kindly permits it, to wish my biggest –and only– fan a very happy birthday: feliz cumpleaños, señora madre).
