Visit to the «Sefton Young Artist of the Year» exhibit

My family visited the Young Artist of the Year exhibit at the Atkinson’s foyer. While we thought all of the entries were noteworthy, we each picked a favourite, and it turns out we both chose «Bruch», an acrylic by Camilla. I swear we were not both hungry!

I don’t exactly know why my wife was drawn to it, but I to me, it stood out because there aren’t many artists in Sefton, never mind the age, that focus on marcorealism, and this entry seems to capitalise on that absence: it offers a beautiful exponent of a whole style that had been absent from the Atkinson for too long.

As I’m not too fond of sharing, I changed my vote, and went with «Opposing features» by Kirandeep. I think this type of pieces that showcase contrasts are always appealing, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this one in particular ended up as a rock band’s album cover!

There’s a few more in a slide-show hosted in YouTube that has more cool entries. Don’t miss out on «African Sunset» by Frank, «Red Squirrel» by Bea, «Yuki Tsunoda creating a masterpiece on the racetrack» by Jessica, «Homage to Gustav Klimt» by Jade, «Ethereal sadness» by Lara, and «Ello» by Grace.
